Hungary: What was particularly interesting was that the majority of the ancestors were members of the Serbo-Croat minority, who had lived in Pest county for centuries, while members of the other branch descended from Germans, one of whom lived near Freiburg before moving to Hungary around 300 years ago.
My research revealed that the family name was originally spelled Marelić.
